Get Traffic, Build Your List, Make Money – It’s that simple…

by Brian T. Edmondson on July 29, 2010

I think a lot of people spend too much time analyzing all the details about how to make money on the internet, how to build their network marketing businesses, how to make money with affiliate marketing, and how to create their own products…. etc. etc. etc…

But in it’s simplest form, the most successful and sustainable business model I’ve seen is (no matter what your product, service, company, etc.) one that just focuses on three things:

1. Getting traffic to your website
2. Turning those visitors into subscribers
3. Converting those subscribers into customers

Now of course, we could expand on each of these three core concepts and go pretty deep…

Traffic: there’s free traffic, paid traffic, PPC, SEO, Facebook ads, leveraged traffic, email traffic, joint venture traffic, the list goes on and on.  And of course there are best practices and different ways to use these traffic sources.  Hopefully the only reason you’re driving traffic is to build your list and give value first, then make sales or sponsor next.  Read that last sentence again, it’s that important.

The funny thing about traffic is that most people spend lots of time struggling to get any traffic at all, when the truth is that there are literally hundred of methods you can be using to get more traffic then you’d ever need.

Turning Visitors Into Subscribers: This is really an easy one.  No need to spend $1,997 on a “list building course” when what I’m about to share with you is all you’ll ever need to know about list building…

Offer something of value for free in exchange for your visitors contact information.

Did you get that, that’s all you ever have to do to build a massive list of prospects who are interested in what you are offering and what you have to say.  I’ll show it you again, this time highlighting / bolding the important points.

Offer something of value for free in exchange for your visitors contact information.

From a technical stand point, this is done by using squeeze pages, website opt-in forms, and even pop ups and slide ups if you like to test and track different methods.  What is the thing you should offer?

This can be a free report, a free audio, a free video, or any other type of information that will help your prospects solve their biggest pain or frustration right now.

Conversion:  Ah, finally we get to the conversion point, actually turning our subscribers into customers, distributors, or whatever our final goal is…

If you start out right by actually giving your prospects the free information you promised, and it’s really good content then you’re off to a good start.  Continue building your relationships and “know, like, trust factor” by giving even more good content and information.  Before you know it your subscribers, who were formally strangers, will be more than eagar to act on the products, services, and even network marketing companies you recommend.

By following this process you’ve positioned yourself as a leader, trusted adviser, and somebody that can help solve your prospects pain, frustrations, and help them move from where they are to where they want to be.

Pretty cool considering this all originated from a very simple 3 step model:  get traffic to your website, build your list, and make money through follow up emails.

Let me know your thoughts on this simple model; and what parts you would need more help… getting more traffic to your website, getting more subscribers onto your list, or turning your leads into money in the comments below.

Sincerely,

Brian T. Edmondson

Great breakdown Brian, sometimes we get so caught up in all the different things that we “can” do that we dont stop and work/focus on what works and what we should do to get results. Thanks!

It really is that simple, Brian. Thanks for that great nugget! Lot’s of people struggle thinking that the something of value has to be a video ‘Boot Camp’ when all it has to be is something as simple as a 15 min video or an article.

Hello Brian, You are right list building is most important. Find the right product to give away is essential. There is so much information overload some times it is hard to find the place to start. Thanks, Andrew Gallop
