Marketing Nuggets from Philly…

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my free e-newsletter and update list to the right. Thanks for visiting!

I just got back from a day of some great networking at a free seminar put on by Sterling Valentine in Mt. Laurel, NJ (just outside of Philly)…

I was happy to see many people from the local New York, New Jersey, and Philadelphia area make it out.

Some of the VIP’s in attendance included Ken McArthur, Mike Ambrosio, Fabio Marciano, Donna Fox, and Mike Merz. In “virtual attendance” were Joel Comm and Mike Morgan.

I can tell a lot of the people I met there will be future VIP’s as well. Here are some nuggets I took away from the event:

Mike Morgan:
- get really good at one thing
- value the importance of your relationships with your partners and your customers

Sterling Valentine:
- “monetize your monetization”… have you had success in anything? Document exactly what you’ve done to become successful and sell that information to others

Mike Merz:
- Joint Ventures are about RELATIONSHIPS (sound familiar?)
- you have to reach out and contact your partners one-on-one… the days of “broadcasting” to reach out and develop JV relationships is coming to an end

Ken McArthur:
- Find “A” way, not the best way to get something done… you can always find “A” way, then improve upon it with a better way… but you’ll never get anywhere searching for the best way…

Jeff Wellman:
- Jeff reminded me of something he actually learned from me (which was in need of a reminder)… people don’t buy your products and services because of your products and services… they buy your product and services because of you (can someone say developing personal relationships?)

Fabio Marciano:
- Fabio and I talked in depth about how we need to go back to delivering great content and giving value to our lists… not just hammering them with sales pitch after sales pitch

Some great advice and lessons learned from the event, but more important than that is how I build on and strenghtened existing relationships and developed new contacts and made new relationships. I’ve made several contacts that can lead to six or seven figure business deals and made some new friends as well…

The number one thing you can do to build and grow your business is to attend live events. Be sure to stay updated with where I’ll be or seminars and events that I recommend you attend on the Live Events section of this blog.

Sincerely,
Signed Brian T. Edmondson

    Hey Brian,

Some good bullet point reminders there.

I attended the World Internet Summit in London a couple years back and the major benefit has come from the people I met there, even more so than the information gained at the event.

My subscribers report pretty much the same thing. More JV’s come from attending live events than from anything else.

    Keep up the good work.

    regards

    Hey Brian,

I am jealous. Was planning on going down but did not want to get stuck coming home in the storm. As we got ice, sleet and snow was probably a good thing.

I do agree though that getting out and meeting people and attending events is a great way to improve your business.

Know I will catch up with you in the new year and a lot of other old friends.

Great blog header too. I’m off to listen to your video, already signed up for your info marketing

    Wow Brian,

I loved your video and btw…You Looked Nice in the Suit :). Really appreciate the advice and it’s wonderful how you took the time to remind other email marketers about how important the personal relationship still is with people even with the technology we have to reach out to people via Internet. Thank you!

    Hey, Brian.

It was good catching up with you folks again and meeting some others for the first time. The trip was great for me as well. Driving back home in the ice and slush wasn’t TOO bad, and definitely worth it.

Loved hearing about some of the things you and others have going on. Lotta good stuff in store for 2008 for all of us!

    Cheers,

    John

    Brian,
Thanks for the good input. I’ve been enjoying your excellent video tutorials and feel I know you from them. Great job!

And thanks for reminding me of the ice and snow in Philly. Moved down to Charleston and had almost forgotten what fun icedriving is!
