Millionaire by age 30?

It’s 2:21PM June 30, 2007 as I write this post…
Today is my 30th birthday (considered to be some type of “milestone” by many).
It seems as if it was just few years back when I set a very important goal:
“I will be a millionaire by the age of 30″…
This seems to be a very common goal that many people set in their late teens or early 20’s, then seem to lose track of it.
It’s not that they don’t want to hit the goal, it’s just that life, and the realities of it, set in…
Most importantly, is most people lack the proper knowledge and vechicle to get there.
Even more important than that (I know, I just contradicted myself), is people loose sight of an give up on their dreams…
In pursuit of my “Millionaire by age 30″ goal, I’ve tried many things, and had many failures. As I tried and tried and tried, and failed and failed and failed, what I didn’t realize is that I wasn’t really failing… I was learning and gaining experience…
I’ve taken many risks, and made many decisions, some good and some bad. In my persuit of becoming a Millionaire by the age of 30, I ended up declaring Bankruptcy before the age of 30…
So, the question is did I hit my goal?
Or, the real question is, was I aiming for the right goal?
You see, along the way, in my persuit of making a lot of money, I also learned about something a little bit more important… having a LIFE…
Sure, you can make a ton of money: but at what cost? Your time? Time with your friends, family, and loved ones? Time to live your life and actually enjoy it?
I’ve tried many things, and have done many things…
I’ve had a pretigous job with a major Wall Street firm, I’ve worked in management with one of the world’s largest companies, and I’ve tried just about every business opportunity out there…
Of all the things I’ve done, one of the best things I’ve been fortunate to have the opportunity to learn and succeed with is affiliate marketing on the Internet… it truly is one of those “dream businesses”.
So, back to the question: Did I hit my goal?
Let me answer it by saying this:
I love what I do, I work when I want, I have the freedom to set my own hours, my own schedule, I get to work with some of the brightest entrepreneurs in the world… and I make good money doing it.
I’d rather make $50,000 a year doing this, than making $250,000 or more a year with a fancy corporate job where I’m a slave to my job, have no freedom, and am working to build someone elses business…
Luckily, you can make a lot more than that (the sky really is the limit).
Millionaire by the age of 30?
Depends how you measure success: your money or your life?
The anwer? Yes and Yes…
Wishing you great success, no matter how old, or young you are.
Sincerely,
Brian T. Edmondson

Hi Brian,
Yes I agree, your quality of life needs to be measured into the mix when you calculate your overall worth. It is much more preferrable to earn $50 a year in your own business that you love, living the life you love.
That to me is a Great Measure of success!
Your Friend,
Steve

..
Hi Brian,
I totally agree with you! Quality of life and whether you’re actually happy with what you’re doing is definitely more important.
I’ve also set a goal to make $X by X age, and sometimes I wonder (while burning candles on both ends, missing weekends working, etc.) how much “Life” I’m missing out on.
Without a goal, or purpose, behind the millions, pursuing it can become a drain on your life.
All the best,
Sean
Hi Brian T Edmondson
Your BEST LIFE is now ! Is Good to Have Millionaire by Age 30
I do believe doing what you love to do for 50k is better compared to do 250k job with no personal pure satisfaction.
Anyway.. I do believe is not also the amount money you make only but the money you keep
You are an awesome man, I learnt a lot from you and your humbleness amazed people surround you. Keep on being original and be doing what you love to do
